On the trail of James Bond

ZIPPING around the world to exotic locations is derigueur for special agent 007 – the suave James Bond. And when Casino Royale – latest film in the Ian Fleming series – hits our cinemas next month, the spy with a licence to thrill will continue that penchant for travel to amazing 'to die for' locations.

The Mediterranean, eastern Europe and the Caribbean go on show when 007 is not home in the MI6 building at the unfashionable end of London's Vauxhall Bridge, dashing around airports, or the hallowed halls of Eton where he was educated.

Casino Royale, the 21st James Bond adventure with Daniel Craig in his debut as 007, traces Bond's early career and his first mission which leads him to Le Chiffre – the banker to the world's terrorists.

Here's a guide to some of the key locations for the new film.

A month in port

September was another month and another 420,000 tons of ship-borne cargoes crossing our waterfront. September's Pilot Report shows that the industrial port is heating up for its most demanding season, and it shows some other things, too.

This small port is a representative microcosm of broader U.S. import and export ratios. The deep-draft traffic here speaks to the state of the U.S. Merchant Marine, and gives us a good look at what we, as a nation, buy and sell.

Many ships proudly flying the flags of our Coalition Partners were in town last month. The Ambassador, hailing from the southwestern Pacific island of Vanuatu, brought in 35,000 tons of road salt in the beginning of September and called again with 37,000 tons of gypsum -- used to make Sheetrock -- at the end of the month.

Even If Your Curves Have Curves, Skinny Jeans Will Fit -- No Ifs, Ands or Butts About It

For those who are, oh, say, older than 14, the quest for the perfect pair of jeans can be downright painful. So many zippers that refuse to close, cloth caught "where the sun don't shine," and other woes have plagued older, curvy women since the dawn of denim. But now those days are over.

CARIBBEAN-HAWAII SPECIAL SECTION: Your place in paradise

NASSAU, Bahamas -- The online vacation rental advertisement looks like a fabulous find. For $350 a night, it's a two-bedroom villa at the upscale Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island along the powdery sand of Cabbage Beach. But when you look more closely, it's a lie.

"Easy walking distance of Atlantis," the small print more truthfully says. "Easy walking distance to Cabbage Beach."

Yeah, right. Bring your hiking shoes.

Meanwhile, at Guanahani Village on Cable Beach west of Nassau, three-bedroom ocean-view condos rent for $306 per night in high season for two people (each additional person $20 more.) What you don't see on the Web site, however, is that the 35-unit oceanfront timeshare property has just been sold to a private Bahamian group and is undergoing an upgrade.
