Breast cancer support group installs officers
Sister, Sister Breast Cancer Support Group installed its newest officers Sunday with the creation of its Grand Bahama Chapter during a survivors and installation luncheon.Some 150 cancer survivors, their families and those committed to become trained to support victims of cancer savoured a heart-warming afternoon filled with laughter, knowledge and a few tears.
The message of survival was underscored from a skit by Actor Patrice Johnson on the importance of getting a mammogram, to the playful, yet sobering testimony of survivor and entertainer Dr. Doris Sears, "Rainbow the Christian Clown," to the powerful liturgical dance by Minister Vicki Smith.
The new chapter was established in April and the official installation was held at the Westin Grand Bahama Island at Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort.

I instinctively knew what lunch with Sir Anthony O'Reilly would be like. A long, boozy affair in a steak house, full of tales and gags from his 50 years in sport and business, washed down with a bottle of red wine and possibly a pint of Guinness.So much for instinct. I got the tales and the gags, all right. But in place of the red wine it was diet Coke. And instead of the steak house, O'Reilly chose Le Bernardin, a three Michelin star restaurant in midtown Manhattan that serves exquisite seafood, in exquisitely small portions.

The fourth annual Junkanoo Jam, Grand Bahama Island Women's College Basketball Tourna-ment looks to be even more exciting than the previous three years, according to organisers.With the participation of the past two seasons' NCAA National Champions, the 2006 Junkanoo Jam will again be one of the most competitive tournaments in women's college basketball.
Maryland, the 2006 NCAA National Champions, headlines the Freeport Division and Baylor, the 2005 NCAA National Cham-pions, headlines the Lucaya Division.
Six highly respected teams round out the remainder of the fields and are sure to give the former champions a run for the title.
The 2006 field includes Gardner-Webb, University of Maryland, University of Mississippi and North-western (Freeport Division) and Baylor, Central Florida University, South Dakota State and University of Virginia (Lucaya Division).
