Basketball legends becoming extinct

With the Phil Smith Legends Basket-ball Tournament set to take place this weekend in Nassau, excitement is in the air among basketball fans, especially those of the early 70s and 80s.

The thought of watching some of the best basketball players of our time get back on the basketball court, all at the same time, can make a historian giddy with excitement.

As one promoter put it, this weekend will be history in the making.

Some of these guys have not played on the same court in over 25 years, yet come Saturday, the best-of-the-best players of all time will gather at the Kendal Isaacs gymnasium for a basketball spectacular.

This will go beyond just a trip down memory lane. This will be like stepping out of the future into the past, while yet remaining in the present.

Sun, sand and just a little love

The chill of winter has set in and daylight hours are dwindling by the minute. If you have already fallen into daydreams of sun-filled days and romantic walks along sandy beaches and turquoise waters, The Bahamas could be your next stop.

Appointing a Director of Romance was an inspirational idea from the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. Newly appointed Freda Madrisotti, will act as mediator between resorts, suppliers and vendors in planning specific romantic events and increasing the romantic appeal of the islands.

Since her appointment, there has been a soaring increase in the number of Bahamas properties appearing on holidaylettings.co.uk. The properties are luxurious, stately and secluded. Perfect for just the two of you to spread your honeymooning wings or to entertain family and friends if marrying on the Islands.

Conflicts in Africa: The Darfur Crisis

Several years ago, Marius Fort man, a friend of mine who once worked in The Bahamas in the Department of Cooperative Development, told me that in his capacity as a World Food Programme official that, at the time, there were 34 wars going on. Yes 34. Most of us in this part of the world knew nothing about these wars. .
