bahama breeze restaurantBahama Islands News, Articles and InformationDiner settles in slander suitRALEIGH - A Wake County slander lawsuit has been settled out of court between the Bahama Breeze restaurant in Raleigh and Charles "Chuck" Johnson, a former frequent diner. The lawsuit, filed in June, alleged that hearsay discussed by Bahama Breeze employees last year destroyed Chuck Johnson's reputation and his business as a real-estate broker and developer. The rumors, the suit says, insinuated that Chuck Johnson, 38, was a drug dealer and embezzler under the microscope of police.Raleigh lawyer Jim Johnson, who represented but is not related to Chuck Johnson, said he could only confirm that the lawsuit had been resolved. He also said he could not talk about the details of that resolution."I can confirm that the case has been informally resolved without any admission of liability," said Mike Bernstein, director of media and communications for Bahama Breeze.Laptops stolen from parked vehiclesIn the parking lot at Bahama Breeze restaurant, 11000 Pines Blvd., burglars broke into three vehicles between 8 and 9:45 p.m. July 24.The vehicles had left a Miramar office at the same time and arrived at the Pembroke Pines location at 8 p.m. When the drivers returned to their vehicles, they noticed the vehicles had been tampered with and called police. Searching for the Caribbean in Cherry HillMAPQUEST IS great if you're looking to drive cross country, but it's not so helpful when you're searching for the Bahama Breeze in South Jersey. The Chain Gang looped around Cherry Hill and Moorestown Monday night, only to eventually realize the one direction our directions left out: It's in the Cherry Hill Mall. And its faulty sign reads Ma Breeze. Like most area chains, as soon as you enter you're handed one of those flashy buzzer things and told the wait is 15 minutes. "But it's Monday," we said, Gang-staring the hostess down. She smiled politely. We waited about two minutes. In the spacious, airy (although we felt no breeze) restaurant, we were seated next to the open kitchen, which pleased the portion of the Gang who like to see how their sausage gets made, but not the portion who doesn't.
