Floridians Get Prepared as Ernesto NearsFlorida residents rushed to fill their prescriptions and stood in long lines for gasoline, food and other supplies Monday as officials warned people not to wait for Tropical Storm Ernesto to become a hurricane again before taking precautions.Forecasters said Ernesto could grow back into a hurricane in the warm waters off Cuba and come ashore in South Florida as early as Tuesday night, exactly one year after Hurricane Katrina pummeled the Gulf Coast. It would be the first hurricane to hit the United States this year. Memories of Katrina and the seven hurricanes that have struck Florida since 2004 were fresh in the minds of many. "Make sure you have the supplies for the 72 hours after the storm," Gov. Jeb Bush warned people in Tallahassee, a day after declaring a state of emergency for all Florida.
The Thorn in Their SideHe was a hero of mine until he got seduced by the health and wealth gospel. Jakes has moved to Fort Worth and has bought a $6 million home. He flies on his own jet. I wish he wouldn't live like Benny Hinn. I said on the radio that if it was up to him, he'd just as soon live in a little house in South Dallas, but his people and his wife are pushing for the big lifestyle. We've heard endless stories on how Serita insists on being treated. She's the queen bee.You investigated Fort Worth-based James Robison at one point. What was the outcome of that? When our victim's hotline number was published in Ann Landers, we got calls from all over the world. The most serious allegation was against James Robison concerning his efforts to help orphans overseas. The caller said he was taking thousands of dollars under the table to bring orphan babies to families in America.

Ernesto, Pacific hurricane moving northACAPULCO, Mexico -- While a lot of attention is being paid to Tropical Storm Ernesto and the trouble it could cause for Florida, there's a big storm off the Pacific coast of Mexico.Hurricane John is about 170 miles south of Acapulco and moving west-northwest. Maximum sustained winds are close to 90 mph with higher gusts. Forecasters expect it to pick up in intensity by Wednesday. A tropical storm warning is in effect for parts of Mexico's west coast. There's already been rain and wind, but, so far, there are no reports of any major floods or other problems. Meanwhile on the East Coast, the rush to get ready for Ernesto is widening. South Carolina's governor said he's activated hundreds of National Guard troops in case a "fairly fickle" Mother Nature steers Ernesto toward the state.
