Bahamas Straw Market

The Straw Market in the Bahamas has many interesting items, but the sellers are sometimes rude. If you choose to shop at one, you should try to bargain because you might get the item cheaper

When you visit the Bahamas, you will see many places to shop; however, if you prefer unique items, the Straw Market is the place to go. The Straw Market is a great place to buy stuff, and you will find some awesome stuff, but it is not for everyone. Finding a great item is fun, but the main problem deals with the vendors because some of them are quite rude, and they do not take no for an answer when you choose not to buy something. If you plan to visit a Straw Market, prepare yourself, because although the items are good, you must have a great attitude to deal with the sellers.

Finding a Straw Market in the Bahamas is not tough; however, most of the older ones were destroyed due to a hurricane. Many of them are rebuilding, and you might see a few of them still under construction; two of the smallest Straw Markets are at Cable Beach and Paradise Island, so you should visit one of these places first.

Generally, you will see many types of sellers within the area, but do not go wandering to everyone’s stand, because most of them sell the same stuff. Once you walk up to someone’s stand to browse, the seller will try everything to make you buy something, but you have to stand your ground. The sellers do not give up easily; some sellers will constantly bug you until you agree to buy something. If you do not want to buy something, you do not have too, there is nothing wrong with browsing, and then buying something some other day.

Shopping the Straw Market can be tough, this is why you need to be aggressive; if you are a nice person who rarely says no, think twice before you walk up to someone’s stand. If you are aggressive, and you want to browse, just say no thank you when the seller bugs you to buy something; you might have to say it a few times, but eventually the seller will understand.

If you plan to buy something at the Straw Market while you are in the Bahamas, it is a good idea because the items make great souvenirs, but before you go, you need to practice one thing, bargaining. Straw Markets sellers are happy to get customers near their stands, and since they bug people so much to buy, you can take this to your advantage.

When you see something you like, offer the seller a lower amount for the item, and you just might get the price you want. This will not be easy like buying something at a yard sale in your hometown; however, visiting a yard sale can help you practice your bargaining skills. If you visit a few yard sales before you visit the Bahamas, you will have no problems making the Straw Market sellers’ lower their cost.

In the Bahamas, the Straw Market is a great place to find unique items, but sometimes the sellers bug you to buy. If you want to browse, remember to be aggressive and say no thanks, and then continue to browse. If you want to shop, remember to bargain with the sellers so you can get a better deal
