Bahamas - Nassau Walking TourA walking tour in the Bahamas is worth trying once because it is a unique experience. Nassau has two great sites worth seeing on foot, Fort Castle and the Queen’s StaircaseBus tours are fun, air-conditioned, and a great way to see the Bahamas; however, a walking tour is slightly better. Sure, buses get you to the sites faster, but while you are on one, you cannot actually get close to some of the sites and really examine them. You will also miss some great photos opportunities on the moving bus useless you have a camera that can capture moving images without motion burr.During a walking tour, either with a tour guide or by yourself, you get great exercise and plenty of flesh air while viewing some of the areas of Nassau. This type of tour is not for anyone, so keep this in mind before you book a tour guide in the Bahamas. A walking tour could be a bit challenging for some people, generally for anyone that is over 40. If you are over 40, you may have problems walking around the streets of Nassau for 2 hours. 2 hours is a long time to walk, so this type of tour should not be done by anyone who has knee problems. This tour takes tourists over hills, up staircases, and down long streets, which can really hurt a sore knee. |

Beside sore joints, this tour should also be passed if you cannot stand the hot sun, because it may make you tired after you walk a while. A bottle of cold water or a sports drink is recommended, particularly a brand that comes in a squirt bottle. If you do not have joint problems, and you can stand the heat, you will enjoy this great tour. You can start a walking tour the moment you get off your cruise ship in Nassau, but keep in mind that there will be a few tour guides waiting there as well. You will have to make a decision, refuse their services and go alone, or hire one of them to show you around. After you made your decision, you can start touring; there are two sites worth visiting on foot, they are the Queen’s Staircase and Fort Fincastle, so remember this if you are touring alone. To get to these places, you have to travel up a steep hill, which is a bit tough, but once you reach the top, you can rest. After your short break, you will have to use more energy to walk up the Queen’s Stairs, which has about 65 steps, and the castle has a few steps as well. It may seem like a lot of work; however, it is worth the trip because you get to see the inside of the castle, and if you travel to the top floor, you will see ships sailing in the ocean. You should plan this tour in the afternoon because your walk back to town will be easier due to the sun setting. A walking tour is a great way to see the Bahamas, but it is not for everyone; heat and joint pain can be a serious issue. If you can deal with a 2 hour walk in the heat, you should take try a walking tour in Nassau because it is a unique way to see the island‘s sites Easy access to The Bahamas is one reason for its long-standing popularity as a winter holiday destination.
