The Bahamas - Fish Fry RestaurantFish Fries are very popular in the Bahamas, and many tourists order their meals at Big 10‘s restaurant. The food is great, but sometimes there are a few issues in the outdoor eating areaIf you want to have a memorable vacation in The Bahamas, you should experience anything it has to offer, including the unique Bahamian food. If you have kids, they might prefer something at a fast food restaurant such as McDonald‘s, but if everybody tries something Bahamian for dinner instead, everyone will definitely love it.There are many types of Bahamian foods; however, on a sunny, beautiful day, there is nothing better than sitting outdoors during a fish fry. One of the most notable places to have a fish dinner is Big 10’s Fish Fry, which is located in Arawak Cay, but not everything there is great. If you can deal with the negative stuff found outside the restaurant, you will have a nice time enjoying your fish fry dinner. There are two good reasons why you should visit Arawak Cay for a fish dinner; the food is great and the staff is friendly. Since the restaurant is near the ocean, the fish you order will be fresh, so it will taste fantastic. When you order fish in The Bahamas, it is served a bit differently; when your waitress brings your food; the fish’s head will still be intact. Depending on you or your family, you may prefer the head removed; this will not be a problem because the staff will happily remove it before the tray reaches your table. |

Although the food is great, the prices are a bit high, so if you have a large family, you might want to eat somewhere else. A basic plate containing fish and French fries cost $12.00, which may be expensive for some people. Besides the prices, eating outdoors on the porch will not suit everyone; you have to deal with a number of things while enjoying your meal. If you are a clean person, you will not like the fact that there is a dumpster nearby, and it is pretty close to the eating area. You might pick a day when the garbage truck does not show up, if this happens, you may get a few sniffs of the trash in the dumpster and lose your appetite. You will also see a few other staff workers outdoors behind their own buildings on their breaks, usually smoking. Although they are not near you, you can still smell the smoke, especially if the winds starting blowing in your direction. Stray animals sometimes show up near the porch area as well, generally dogs; they always search near and around the dumpster for food. If there is food near the dumpster, you do not have to worry about them bothering you; however, they may stop to stare if they are still hungry; it is up to you if you want to throw them something to eat or not. The really good thing about having your dinner outdoors on the porch is that it offers a great view of the ocean and the ships. If you can handle the negative issues, you should consider having your dinner outdoors, because the view is great, if not, you can always eat your dinner indoors. A fish fry dinner in The Bahamas is a unique outdoor experience; although the food is somewhat expensive and the porch area has a few issues, it is still worth a visit. Easy access to The Bahamas is one reason for its long-standing popularity as a winter holiday destination. Only a few miles from the south Florida coast, in fact closer than Caribbean destinations, the islands can be reached quickly either by air or by sea. The Bahama Islands temperatures rarely drop below 60 degrees F, or rise above 90 degrees F. Most of the rain fall occurs in the summer months. The sea temperature ranges from the low 80's in the summer to about 74 degrees F in the winter Find the best vacation deal, compare prices and read what other travelers have to say at Bahamas Vacation Hotel Links to other Caribbean islands Anguilla Aruba Barbados Bermuda Bonaire Cuba Curacao Dominica Dominican Republic Grenada Guadeloupe Haiti Jamaica Martinique Montserrat Puerto Rico Saba St. Barthelemy St. Eustatius St. Lucia St. Maarten/St. Martin |
