There is a good reason why, but the main one deals with the island’s crazy drivers. It takes guts to use a bicycle in the Bahamas because there are so many hazards during a ride. They may act like this because they want to get to work fast, but whatever the reason, it is just not safe for bikers when they act that way. Not all the areas in the Bahamas are bad, but there are still risks, especially if you ride a bike during the morning. Morning is when the locals go to work, and many of them prefer to walk instead of using a car. When locals walk to work early in the morning, they usually get breakfast to go, generally with some kind of liquid beverage. If you ride your bicycle in the morning, you have to be careful, you might bump into someone causing their breakfast to waste on them, or yourself, and it could possibly hurt someone if it is hot. Besides bicycles, there are also scooters available for rent in the Bahamas; if you plan to rent one, the same safely rules apply. The scooter vendor is location near the port; when you rent your scooter, it is best to use it only on the beach. You must be careful whenever you park it, because if you go too far, someone may steal it. If this happens, you are responsible for the scooter, so make sure you get a friend to watch it if you decide to take a swim. Bicycles are risky in Nassau due to damaged streets, crazy drivers, and bad traffic, so you should try to avoid riding them. Scooters are ok for quick rides to the beach, but you have to keep an eye on it because you are responsible if someone takes it.
